Wood Buffalo sightseeing patrol

This 2 ½ day trip into Wood Buffalo National Park has the option of more days being added to suit your needs, such as a visit to Boyer Rapids and cliff areas. Guests will arrive a day early to prepare for the patrol in Fort Smith.

Day 1
Depart from Fort Smith and travel to Parson’s Lake road to visit the UNESCO site, the famous Salt Plans. From here we continue on to Pine Lake, created by a series of five sink holes in the Karst lands of the park.

Travel to Peace Point gives many photo opportunities for Buffalo that are in small herds feeding and nursing their young.

Day 2
At Peace Point, a historic site in Wood Buffalo National Park will see us camp where First Nations People have been for over 10, 000 years. After a good nights rest we travel to Sweetgrass Landing and hike into the famous Sweetgrass Prairie. Here is opportunity to view buffalo, wolves and bears. On returning to the Peace River we will travel back upstream to Peace Point to then camp.

Day 3
In the morning we travel to Fort Smith and hike in to Gross Beak Lake to experience the ancient ocean bottom on our return.

  2. Boat tour with guide and helper.
  3. Hiking into Sweetgrass with guide.
  4. Camping equipment.

Not Included:

  1. Sleeping bag and mattress or mat.
  2. Tobacco products.
  3. Alcoholic drinks
  4. Gifts.
  5. Sunscreen and insect repellent.
  6. Rubber boots.

Note: Guests are encouraged to limit the amount of luggage they take on the trip. Personal medicines and sunglasses are recommended.
